Deputy High Commissioner visits Brandix Park

Dr. D. Venkateshwaran, the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, visited Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) located at Atchutapuram near Visakhapatnam today.
The Deputy High Commissioner was on an official visit to Vijayawada to meet the Hon. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and came down to Brandix India Apparel City, Visakhapatnam, on the invitation of Mr Ashroff Omar, Group CEO of Brandix.

The Deputy High Commissioner toured the Brandix Park and termed it as a great success story and one of the largest Foreign Direct Investments in India by Sri Lanka.

He appreciated the world class infrastructure instituted to facilitate the textile and apparel exports. The Deputy High Commissioner keenly observed the state-of-the-art Water Treatment and Effluent Treatment Plants inside the Park and appreciated the processes being followed to support the manufacturing units and also their dedication in complying with the international standards.

On visiting the fabric, garment manufacturing and accessary manufacturing units inside the Park, Dr. Venkateshwaran was overwhelmed at the organized assembly line production processes and the design and quality of the finished products. He appreciated Brandix for their excellent training and upskilling of the large rural women workforce, in manufacturing products for international brands and labels. He was pleased to learn that Brandix alongside being the largest textile park operational in the country was also the largest employer of women workforce with over 20,000 total employment at a single location.

The Deputy High Commissioner enquired about all the units located in Brandix Park and recommended the Management to further expand and develop integrated value chain in all segments.

The Deputy High Commissioner was amazed at the achievement of the Brandix Textile Park in generating manifold employment and exports within a short period despite facing pandemic crisis and recession in the international market. He further enquired on the issues hindering the progress of the Park and assured of his fullest support in reaching the next level of success.

The Deputy High Commissioner, during his visits to the operating units, met and spoke with some Brandix associates including expatriates from Sri Lanka. He admired the way Brandis Management has taken care of all the associates during the pandemic and advised the management to continue to take care of them in future too.

The Park overview and the consistent efforts expended in its smooth functioning were explained to the Deputy High Commissioner by the Brandix Management team including Brandix India Country Head Mr Neil Rosayro, BIAC India Partner Mr PC Doraswamy, BIAC Deputy Chief Operating Officer Mr Saravanan Chandramouleeswaran and Brandix India HR General Manager Mr Uditha Weerabahu.
